Houston, TX – As we celebrate the season of giving, the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is gearing up for a gridiron clash of gratitude on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, at 8: 30 PM CST. This year, the courageous Rice Owls take to Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas where they meet up with passionate opponent from San Marcos, the brave Bobcats of Stephen F. Austin and who will win huge bragging rights as well as a trophy going out to our venerable first responders?

Under Head Coach Mike Bloomgren, the Owls are revved up and ready for an electrifying run at the postseason. Quarterback Taylor McElrath with his powerful aerial arsenal and running back AJ Turner's explosive ground game can result in an offensive blast. Squaring off to stop the Bobcat offensive charge will be Rice's stout defense, featuring linebackers Blaze Jefferson and Deontay Anderson.
Texas State Bobcats: Ready to Rumble!
Under head coach G.J. Kinne, the Bobcats look forward to showing that they are more than just a ragged bunch of misfits on Cinderella Island. The quarterback-wide receiver pair of Tyler Vujnovich and Jahon Barnes present a serious threat to the Owls' secondary. Behind linebacker Bryan London and defensive back Tavita Pritchard, Texas State's defense will aim to slow Rice ' s offensive tempo.

During the game we will pay tribute to their courage and martyrdom, recognizing stories of heroism in this series that are relevant even today.
