Rutgers Football Commitment Updates: July 2024
Rutgers football continues their hot start to recruiting adding three pass catching targets to their future commitment list in the past week. These pass catchers are in the form of two members of the tight end position and one member of the wide receiver position. The news come just less than a month after Rutgers had what can be described as the most successful recruitment month in the history of Rutgers football in June.

The main Recruiting commits mentioned are two Tight Ends
In the last two days alone Rutgers football was able to secure two tight ends into their team. It doesn’t take almost any creativity to see that one commitment was added to the recruiting class they’re going to have in 2025 and another to the recruiting class they’re going to have in 2027 – the only recruiting class listed for Kentucky at this point in time. Even though it is just a verbal agreement, one must marveled at how far the Scarlet Knights are going for the future.
The first one they landed for the tight end position was Ben Rothhaar, who said he will flip his commit from Kent State to the Scarlet Knights on Friday. Rothhaar stands at 6-foot-4, 210 pound, three-star tight end of the class of 2025 who in his Junior year at Norwalk High School, Norwalk, Ohio with 32 receptions for 451 yards. He is the No. 30 commit in the entire class of commits and unfortunately, he is the only commit coming from Ohio in the class.
Although clearly not the top talent left in the national pool, Rothhaar will try to step into a glaring vacancy for the Scarlet Knights in the next couple of years. At this level Rutgers only has one guy Victor Konopka who has caught a pass as a TE at the college level. By the time Rothhaar gets there, he and another tight end will most likely be gone, and there has been little to indicate that the current tight end room ahead of him will pan out.
The second of the two tight ends that received offer from Rutgers was a three star Connor Winn. Winn is 6’3 230lbs commit from Bartram Trail High School Jacksonville, FL for Rutgers University and is the first commit for the class of 2027. This means that Rutgers had this enigmatic eye on him and choose him as early as the time he was in the freshman class. Winn himself had visited the Rutgers campus two times, the visits were made in the year 2023 before he committed to joining the Scarlet Knights in the year 2024 in July.
That year in detail, Winn was able to catch 8 passes for 297 yards, and 3 touchdowns which saw him feature as a big play for his high school.
More important since he is not very deep into the recruiting process one should remember that the kid committed to Rutgers is a verbal commit and can be persuaded to flip to another team at some later point of the year.
Wide receiver Dyzier Carter
Thus, the only non-tight end commit of the weekend, Carter is a 6-foot, 180-pound four-star wide receiver from Woodberry Forest High School, Woodberry Forest, Virginia. He shared his intention to join Rutgers on X (Former Twitter), on the 27 th of July and is the second player to join the class of 2026.
The end of the sophomore season saw Carter making appearances every where on the offensive line and even had time when he was taking snaps at receiver running back and as a quarterback. When he aligned himself as a receiver, he only managed to catch 20 passes for most 273 yards as well as 4 touchdowns. When he took snaps at running back, he again rushed for 36 times, 298 yards, and five touchdowns. Skills are very general and versatile here, although he still has more potential to grow in order to become a true receiver.
