If only Fresno State head coach Jeff Tedford is fit and well then the football victories are coming.

Ah, coaching in this college is really a tough job.

Tedford himself wasn’t well in the year 2019 and had to pull out as per reported heart complications. It was okay especially with the intervention of Kalen DeBoer to take charges in two seasons.

Tedford returned to the team and he continued from where he had left when things were tough but of course this was not an easy task.

He had a health concern at the end of last season; Tim Skipper, the assistant got to bowl for the bowl win; Now, it seems health is not an issue and Tedford’s set for action.

Eliminate that 2019 campaign, and Tedford’s Bulldog teams are 41-14 with four bowl victories, two Mountain West crowns and one conference title defeat. Now is the opportunity to build on one of those double-digit winning seasons and ramp it up another notch.

Boise State will be the world basically with heavy expectation to dominate Mountain west conference and be part of the College Football play off but Tedford of fresno state also has quality, experienced players and spirited trainer to challenge as well.

They are last year’s winning team with nine games; however, a bad late season and some general difficulties can be noticed. Unlike before, this time around, the offense is much more experienced, the lines are arguably the best in Tedford’s contract and the defense has more veterans/depth.

Add in a schedule that makes Boise State’s absence easier to swallow: road games at Michigan, UNLV, UCLA, and Air Force that can define a season in a matter of weeks; and Fresno State could be the example of which other team could get into this new expanded CFP thing.

Most of all, though, please just remember to not be football … or at least to get better, Coach.

It is an honor to preview the offense of the Fresno State Football team for the year 2024.

- Coming back loaded with veterans, the offence that was as good as any team on third downs and which had shown moments of the ability to explode will turn up at the college football bowl game. Not surprisingly, when the offense scored a goal, the reward/change was positive.

Scoring 27 points or more nine times Fresno State reaped a 9-0 record. If it scored less than 27, examples it went 0-4. Extending this even more, the Fresno State football team has gotten to 27 points and levelled it 17 times in recent history. It can do that again on a regular basis, but first, it has to overcome a few hurdles, and …

- Although the testimony of key witnesses was impressive, the overall organization and planning of the campaign’s ground team must be improved. It is not fully true that it is a passing attack, however, the offense was more inclined towards the aerial side.

The offence line also has its quota of glamour boys. Also, Mose Vavao, who was a big blaster and primarily a guard last year, stands a great chance to become an all-star at the center. With Toreon Penlight and Kingsley Ugwu this will be a good left tackle, Braylen Nelson is extremely tall for a right tackle, normally this should be one of MW’s better lines.

The backs are sufficiently good enough to be exploited more. Malik Sheerer averaged 5. An average of 6 yards per carry; 966 yards, nine TDs. He is the scatback, Elijah Gilliam is similar to a power runner; he ranked the second with 397 yards and five touchdowns. But …

- Once more, the passing game is the teams’ bread and butter. Mikey Keene transferred from UCF and became an impact player throwing 67% for 2,953 yards, 24 TDs, and ten interceptions.

The offense had issues when he was ineffective, he is not particularly large and he is not fast, but it was only when he started the passing game that came alive. I elaborate on that shortly in the Key to the Season part.

The receiving corps is lacking a few new hires to say the least. Their leading target Erik Brooks is no longer with the team, however; Jalen Moss hauled in 55 balls for 706 yards and 6 touchdowns as a true freshman. He’s a No. 1 target, Josiah Freeman is a deep threat on the outside while Mac Dalena caught 47 passes on the inside.

The style is back, gone is top tight end Tre Watson but Jake Boust should be a factor.

Fresno State : Season Football Preview 2024: Defense

- The defensive side of the team from Fresno State was not very impressive. It was fairly good at creating pressure, made opponents turn the ball over a lot, and it even threw some fantastically unrivaled gems during the last season.

It should be indicated that there should be even more gigantic occurrences in this season. Isolating USC former super-recruit Korey Foreman opposite top pass rusher Devo Bridges should cause nightmares for backfields on offense.

They’ll be fine outside, the inside is strong round Jacob Homes – the team’s leader with five sacks – and there’s depth to spearhead a good rotation against the run.

- To have a few nice tacklers back in the linebacking corps is of great aid. Malachi Langley is a baller of a tackler with a team-leading 84 stops last season and now it’s Tuasivi Nomura’s turn to be a top hitter replacing Lavelle Bailey in the middle.

- Speaking of the secondary, it has several nice playmakers. Arguably, there is no clear darling among the returnees, but there is much to chose from within the lot. Al’zillion Hamilton a great baller who defensed eight passes and intercepted two. There is no much solidarity in this area as he is fixed at one corner while JUCO transfer Jakari Embry and Julian Neal are superb passing the ball on the other corner.

Dean Clark is involved in making a whole bunch of plays and had only the second on the team with 83 tackles, and Camryn Bracha should be recognized as fairly versatile figure if she gains more playing time at the free safety position.

Given the importance of winning, the title Symbol Key to the Fresno State Football Season sums the book up in the best possible way.

Just get QB Mikey Keene going each week.

They averaged 317 yards per game passing and were 9-1 when the passing attack threw for more than 233 yards Boise State was the only time they lost when Keene got injured and threw for only 218 yards. The next week they won when Logan Fife stepped in against Utah State and threw for 291 yards, but that to is to the style of this O.

That is if the singer Keene was on stage, then Fresno State was a winner.

Fresno State Key Player

Josiah Freeman, WR Jr.

Bulldogs will be fine at wide receiving – the offence rotates in that area and I’m sure Mikey Keene does not need instructions on which receiver to target. Although, it would be nice to have a deeper element to freak out secondaries even more.

The 6-3 Freeman will work even more on the outside after caughting 19 passes for 249 yards and a score. If he opens things up just a little more then the Jalen Moss and Mac Dalena will have monster games.

The Fresno State football team’s top gain and loss in transfers.

Top Transfer In: Korey Foreman, EDGE Jr. Former 5-star recruit for the USC Trojans could this man be the Bulldog’s next great pass rusher? This was indicated in his performance where he could not rise up for the Trojans with a mere 25 tackles and a paltry 2. Five sacks, but he’ll get his chance on the outside of the Fresno State line.

Top Transfer Out: Tre Watson is a Senior in Tight End.

He appears the part and rocks the microphone. The bulky 6-5, 245 pounder hardly ventured deep last season but secured 38 out of 378 passing yards with 4 touchdowns from the midrange. Now he is going to be an important cog on the Washington attack.

Fresno State Key Game

at UNLV, Sept. 28

Of course, no Mountain West game can ever be said to be for sure – Fresno State is not beyond changing any of its scheduled conference games – but for the most part, all of this is a two-game season.

Uh, maybe Colorado State should be part of that, too but it is Air Force and UNLV that should be the biggest deal on the Bulldog slate.

If you do that in Vegas late in September, Mountain West Championship after five games is within grasp, even with some really difficult games coming up.

Fresno State football alumni have achieved a lot in their playing careers, so to celebrate their feat I am listing down ten greatest Bulldogs football players thus far.

1. Mose Vavao, C/OG Sr.

2. Devo Bridges, DE Sr.

3. Mikey Keene, QB Jr.

4. Malik Sherrod, RB Sr.

5. Jacob Holmes, DT Jr.

6. Jalen Moss, WR Soph.

7. Korey Foreman, EDGE Sr.

8. Cam Lockridge, CB Sr.

9. Gavriel Lightfoot, DT Jr.

10. Dylan Lynch, PK Jr.

Fresno State Football 2024 Win Total Prediction: Expectations for this Season

Everybody knows that Boise State will be the MW’s top team and the likely G5 delegation to CFP, but Fresno has to be the contender as well.

It will lose to Michigan at the begin- ning of the season, finish tied for 10th with UCLA at the end, and in between it should annihilate the sched- ule barring any drops in performance from game to game.

It is a very, very bad thing that Mountain West decided to not play regular-season games with Boise State and Fresno State but the Bulldogs will take it.

It doesn’t have to be the new San Diego State AztecFast attack, and lacks the Wyoming D not to mention whatever Utah State will be now. It also fails to include Oregon State in the Mountain West Netflix and Chill with the former Pac-12 also secures a home game against Washington State.

Regarding UNLV and regarding Air Force are the issues, while New Mexico and Nevada should not be an issue and finally, Fresno State will achieve the Mountain West championship game.
