Football Legend Jahri Evans Named A Finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024

I am really happy to hear that the Bloomingburg Husky great, Jahri Evans, has been chosen as one of the 15 modern-era player finalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

The Hall of Fame declared on December 27 that Evans made it as a finalist for the very first time. He is up for the award in his second year of being eligible. The recent inductee has got lots of company, as he joins a group of legends including Eric Allen, Jared Allen,Willie Anderson, and more on the ballot for the Class of 2024.

The class of 2024 for the modern era in the pro football hall of fame comprised of nine players from the 2023 class, two newcomers, and four first-time finalists after 40 years of eligibility.

The candidates for the Modern-Era Player category will be decided by the Hall of Fame committee before Super Bowl LVIII. In February 8, the Class of 2024 will be publicly unveiled during the "NFL Honors presented by Invisalign" broadcast from Las Vegas on CBS Television Network and NFL Network and streamed on Paramount+ and NFL+. The show is on at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.

Evans got a place in the Bloomsburg Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018. And also he got inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. He has also been nominated for the College Football Hall of Fame and the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Hi, did you hear that Evans got nominated for NCAA DII 50th Anniversary Gold Award? That’s amazing news!

In 2004, Evans was awarded for his outstanding performance in the left tackle position. He earned four All-American recognitions as a junior football player. In his senior year, in 2005, Evans played a vital role in helping the Huskies achieve an average of 284.3 rushing yards per game, which placed them eighth in the nation. He got First Team All-American honors from five such respected organizations, including the AFCA, Daktronics, Don Hansen Football Gazette, Associated Press, and D2Football.com. He was also considered as one of the finalists for the Gene Upshaw Award in the last two seasons, an award that honors the country's top lineman in Division II.

He was awarded the Danny Litwhiler Award as the best male underclass athlete of Bloomsburg University in 2005 and also received Robert B. Redman Award as the best male senior athlete of the same University in 2006.

So, Evans was picked by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round (108th overall) during the 2006 NFL Draft, making him the first player from the Huskies chosen in the draft since 1992. He got Pro Bowl recognition six times in a row, from 2009-2014. He was named First Team All-Pro four times in row from 2009-2012. Also, he got Second Team All-Pro accolades in 2013. The famous player Evans was in many lists like the Pro Football Weekly All-Rookie Team in 2006, Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award recipient in 2009 as well as 2011, and a part of the New Orleans Saints' 50th Anniversary Team in 2016.

The foundation was made to let students know that you need to study hard to be a good athlete. It should encourage us to work harder and be determined. The Jahri Evans Foundation aims to provide better quality education, promote good health, safety and fitness to all children, and particularly focuses on the development of young minds. Evan's foundation conducts free camps annually in Philadelphia for youngsters, drawing 325 participants each year. And that's my uncle Evans. He helps in McBryan Clinic which provides skill training sessions to high school offensive linemen.

Evan graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in exercise science. He started a full scholarship for out of the state minority students studying MS Clinical Athletic Training in 2009. The Jahri Evans Football Endowed Scholarship was set up in 2014 and will continue to exist in the future. After completing his undergraduate degree, Evans decided to pursue an MBA in Executive Business Administration at The University of Miami in 2017.
