Since the playoffs will increase, there will also be changes in the shifting of New Year’s Six bowl games in hosting CFP games.

Since the beginning of the CFP, the bowl games include; Cotton, Fiesta, Orange, Peach, Rose, and Sugar Bowls, and all of them took turns in hosting semifinals. Whereas two hosted CFP games, the other four would host premier teams during the off seasons of those teams. Every third season each bowl would have a semifinal match.

It will now be six CFP games total hosted by the bowls: the two semifinals and the four quarterfinals. The bowl games themselves will still not host the national championship game rather they will be an independent affair as in the previous years. Games in the first round will be played on campus.

This means the New Year’s Six bowl games will always have a CFP game every season of the playoffs. Hollywood stars will in the future play every third season a semifinal tournament and in the other seasons a quarterfinal round.

The pro selecting bowl games of this year are Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl, and they are awarded to be the semi finalists. The Orange game will take place in 2025 on 9th January while the Cotton game will be the following night on January, 10th.

The other games will have Quarters this season. This Fiesta will be on December 31st, 2024 in the evening while the other three will be played on the new year daytime of 1st January 2024.

For a season of 2025, Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl which are two of the four bowl games are expected to host the semifinals.

No other official statements have been made beyond that; however, it can be expected that the rotation stays in place, so the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl will be hosting semifinals in the 2026 season.

The championship game of this season will be played in the newly built Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA – the same grounds where Clemson will start the season against the Georgia Bulldogs. The college national championship game which is scheduled for 2026 will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
