Screwed over Ryan Day is 1-3 against the Wolverines in the last four years; it’s not the record that would help any coach at Ohio State to calm down before the game against the blue jerseys; and in this season, the temperature is rising because the humiliation has to be avenged.
However, up to this day, Day still feels that his Buckeyes squandered their chance to beat the Wolverines in the previous season.
“That was a very good team,” Day said, via SiriusXM, “but we still should have won the game. ” "We didn't. So why was that? A question that can be asked is:
You begin by getting the people in the right places, getting the personnel right, getting the scheme right or the structure right and then you go on from there, but yes you get those kinds of decisions done during the off season but the building of your identity happens during the season.
Day added: ‘You want to be at your best when the games are approaching,’ is what you want to achieve when it comes to football.
Filled with regret, Ohio State “should’ve won the game” but failed to do so and thus lost to Michigan in a close call with a score of 30-24 causing the Buckeyes to miss out on the Big Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoff.
And that Michigan once wont 3 Big Ten titles in row and the national championship.
Besides the games against the “that team up north,” day, Meyer is a sparkling 56-8 with the Buckeyes team, 39-3 when playing against the Big Ten opponents.
However, all three of those losses were to Michigan and on this account alone is the fact that Ohio State has a losing record against them, the major sore that can be held against Day’s coaching at Ohio State even if it has otherwise boasted of much success.
Day got aggressive this offseason, in the transfer portal and especially on his own team.
Oregon and UCLA’s former coach Chip Kelly joined Ohio State University team in the most recent coaching carousel as an Offensive Coordinator.
But the Buckeyes struck gold in the portal, signing two former five-star Alabama players in Caleb Downs, the safety, and Julian Sayin who is being targeted for 2025 quarterback.
Evaluating the new additions, fresh SEC rushing champ, Quinshon Judkins is a transfer from Ole Miss with 2 seasons, 2,725 rushing yards, and 31 touchdowns.
Will Howard will be the Potential Starting Quarterback after the Buckeyes gave up Kyle McCord to Syracuse. Former Kansas State starter is benefiting from a personal best performance where he scored to 61. A dreadful third of his throws for 2,643 yards with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Along with the additions, getting back production at running back, defensive end, and wide receiver, Ohio State is already in second place in current national title odds.
Now, Day has to mold it and make it so that by this time next year, he is stating quite confidently that not only should Ohio State have beaten Michigan, but they did.
