Here are some of the top NFL Draft prospects to watch on Friday, December 23rd, in the late-night bowl games:
Military Bowl: East Carolina Pirates vs. Duke Blue Devils (9: 45 PM ET, ESPN)
East Carolina QB Holton Ahlert: This gunslinger is the nation's passing leader (4,575 yards), and this year has tossed for 34 touchdowns. He's a mobile threat with fine touch and arm strength, but must improve his decision-making to become an early Day 2 selection.
Duke WR Jalon Calhoun: Leonard's favorite target has been Calhoun, who possesses 788 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. He is a physical receiver with good hands and route-running skills, but no blazing speed.
Cheez-It Bowl: Air Force Falcons vs. Louisville Cardinals (10: 00 PM ET, ESPN)
Air Force WR DeVon Brown: Standing 6'4", and weighing in at a sinewy 220 pounds, Brown uses his body to win jump ball situations. This year he has caught 56 passes for 701 yard and seven touchdowns, but needs to polish his route running if he's going to become a reliable threat.
Louisville LB Yasir Abdullah: This season, Abdullah's 119 stops put him firmly at the head of the Cardinals. He's also a wrecker, with 6.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss this season alone. His gut instinct and athleticism make him a possible Day 2 pick.
New Mexico Bowl: Fresno State Bulldogs vs. New Mexico State Aggies (5: 45 PM ET, ESPN)
Fresno State LB Malachi Langley: Langley is a fifth year senior who has started every game since 2021. With 80 total tackles (36 solo) and a sack on the season, he's like one big tackling machine out there. He might make for an interesting undrafted free agent.
These are only a few of the many talented prospects who will take to the field on Friday night. So don't forget to catch these late-night bowl games, and find out who turns on the bright lights.
The NFL Draft is still over three months away, so we'll continue to preview prospects and analyze the draft in due course.
