If you didn’t catch it, we’ll be having an NFL game every Thursday until the next year or alternatively.

It will be the annual pre-season kick-off beginning with Houston Texans and Chicago Bears in Canton, Ohio.

As it is, Ohio State’s C. J. Stroud and Oklahoma’s Caleb Williams are both submissions, although crucial position battles will be showcased, and the disparity in the depth of the two squads has led to a massive shift at the FanDuel line.

Week 9 of the CFL season starts today, and in what is every fans dream the pre-season favourite to win the Grey Cup will play host to the current favourite to win the Grey Cup as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers take on the BC Lions.

Saskatoon native QB Vernon Adams Jr. is now the runner to win the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player a the FanDuel sportsbook at -155.

None of them is below +460 in the betting market to clinch that award.

Lions are established at +210 on FanDuel as the favourite to capture the Grey Cup; it is a 4. A five-point favourite for tonight’s confrontation in Winnipeg.

Honey, if you are reading this, please do not expect to have me around tonight.

I should be home early enough to arrange screens for the NFL game, the CFL game as well as have the FanDuel app ready for the kick-off.

This is Morning Coffee for the date August 1st, 2024.

Thank God for the NFL the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game

The Texans and the Bears go head to head to open the NFL pre-season in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game tonight.

A year ago Houston starts the season with a rookie quarterback and a rookie head coach.

Few expected Stroud and the Texans to finish 10-7 depend the AFC South crown, and then the Texans smashed the record for franchise playoff points, in a Wild Card victory over the Cleveland Browns as they put 45 points on the scoreboard.

This season, Stroud received the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and gained the record of the youngest starting quarterback to win a playoff game in the period of 1950.

Entering this second year under DC DeMeco Ryans, much more is expected of Houston.

FanDuel currently has Stroud as the third favorite for NFL regular-season MVP and only after Mahomes and Allen.

The Texans are also listed at 60th in the fan duel this morning to win the Super Bowl at +1500.

The combination of pass catchers in Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Stefon Diggs and John Metchie, Dalton Schultz coupled with Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce puts the Houston offence as one of the as the brightest in the NFL this season.

The starters will not be on the field for an extended period to practice and play in a game until World Football ends.

At the same time, the Bears supporters are longing for their team to replicate what the Texans did the last season with their rookie QB.

The odds for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year show that favourite at +135 this morning at FanDuel is Caleb Williams who is the number one overall pick of the NFL.

None of them is offered at less than +650 to win that award if they are a rookie.

They stand at a 7-10 – equal to the worst team in the NFC North division which is last season.

Their over/under win total for the year coming into the regular season is 8 or below. It is -160 that it is juiced to the over and Mark Cuban’s team has 5 wins.

Right now at FanDuel the Bears are -108 to make the playoffs and -112 to miss the playoffs.

Williams is a no-show in the playing tonight, and it can be inferred that others in the Chicago team are also out unless it is the bench warmers.

It required the circulation of some drastic line movements for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game at FanDuel.

Bears were a 2 with respect to all moments of the game including before, during and after the game. Handicap odds on tonight’s game saw it place as the 5-point favorite.

Nevertheless, that line has flexed all the way down to Houston minus one. 5 based on a comment by Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus that his team would be managing its pre-season engagements with an additional pre-season game to play.

The Bears expected to start Tyson Bagent at quarterback.

He will have to sit out at some point for Brett Rypien and, after that, Austin Reed.

The Texans will respond with Davis Mills, Case Keenum and Tim Boyle.

That translates into edge for Houston at the QB spot.

It goes without saying that Metchie and rookie Jawhar Jordan and Jadon Janke should be hard for the Texans tonight.

Caserio at the GM level, Ryans has strengthened the Houston roster for this battle and I like the depth of their players more in this match-up compared to the Bears.

However, the combined total for tonight’s game is lower at 33-31, FanDuel , it’s a -115 juice on the under.

As bettors wait for a low scoring game, I begin to think that how low is low enough to get a value on the over.

I would like the depth that Houston has for this game special in the QB in a low score game.

My FanDuel Best Bet for the Pro Football Hall of Fame game will be going with the Texans on the moneyline at -130.

Enjoy the games, everyone!
