Last season the team had the record of 7-6 for the overall and 5-3 for the ACC season.
That means Virginia Tech was ranked above point zero, or above the number that corresponds to long shots. Emilk recast 500 last year for the first time since 2019. Their last game was a victory in the Military Bowl against #23 Tulane and this was their first bowl game victory since 2016. Since that AD, record and a bowl game in 2016, the Hokies have been rather unremarkable in ACC football. They are surely paying a great deal of attention to it so that they can regain their previous position of being a contender again next year. We can say that, besides the overall ranking, by using the Bill Connelly’s data from ESPN, Virginia Tech’s ranking in returning offensive production percentage is 95% which puts them into the first place, while the defence production percentage ranked 77% and puts them into the twelfth place.
Departing Players
Concerning the game play aspect of the game, as was pointed out earlier, the Hokies coaching staff did a superb job in retaining talent. In this NIL era, all the credit indeed goes to the supreme effort that was put to achieve such a result. Several players from the Hokies are losing include Bryce Duke, Dae’quan Wright, and Da’Wain Lofton. But on the defensive side of the football, a DB, Derrick Canteen, the Hokies – number 3 cornerback will not be back at Blacksburg next season. It wasn’t any better this year as no Hokies were selected in the NFL Draft this year.
This Year
Quarterbacks and their coaches will rely more on their Quarter back Kyron Drones which is coached by Coach Pry and the Hokies. Drones for himself the season before as one of the better dual threat Quarterbacks in the nation throwing for 2085 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushing for 818 and 5 touchdowns. In 2023; drones burnt Boston college in the throwing 218 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 135 yards.
Drones will have weapons at his disposal to embarking the enemy from various angles as well as long-lasting humiliation of enemy’s morale from air attack. The whole starting Offense line whom I will repeat for the emphasis is back along with All-ACC Third team running back, Bhayshul Tuten. The top four targets on the receiving end of drones’ connection, Ali Jennings, Stephen Gosnell, Da’quan Felton, and Jaylin Lane, will also be returning to Blacksburg. The Hokies as expected should have a decent 2024 season if only the team could build on the progress it made in the previous season.
