49ers Announce 2024 Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellows
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan today named the 49ers 2024 Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellows, Ronald Blair III, Pierre Cormier, Salvador Delgado, Jordan Holland, Angel Matute, Rusty McKinney and Drew Smith.

Blair III will coordinate with the 49ers defensive line. Blair was drafted straight to the NFL to the 49ers (2016-20), and the New York Jets (2021) where he has played in 55 games, making five starts, in total has 116 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and 14 QB hits. 5 sacks. Blair was in Appalachian State University in which he discharged stand as a defensive end for five times (2011-15).
The 49ers hired Cormier in a role that has him work with the 49ers’ defensive backs; at the moment, he holds the position of the special teams analyst at ASU. Assistant football coach at Idaho State University for the years 2022-23 and San Diego State University for the year 2021-22. Cormier was University of Arizona graduate assistant football coach from 2018 to 2021. Before he joined the collegiate level coaching, Cormier joined the University of Arizona to study and graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology and also a Masters’ Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration (2013-20).
Wide receivers are the corresponding group that Delgado will be handling in this case with the 49ers. He is now the quality control of the offense line in San José State University. Delgado has been in SJSU team in the past as the graduate assistant and used to work with the wide receivers for the years 2021-2024 and as the recruiting specialist for the years 2018-2021. Before Coaching SAN JOSE STATE DELGADO was at Foothill College as a football operations (2016-2018). Born in December 1999, Delgado HOLD graduated from San Jose State University where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise sciences and a master’s degree in sports studies between 2017-22.
Holland will also be with the 49ers defensive backs unit. Holland played for defensive back for three seasons at the Texas A&M Kingsville and the Prairie View A&M universities, which he attended. After graduating from college, Holland used to work in the equipment deapartment for the Cleveland Browns. After playing for the Browns, Holland trained with the 49ers ahead of the 2019 season camp. He spent his early indoor football for the Billings wolves with arena football for the Cleveland Gladiators While he was also associated with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian football league (2017-18).
Matute will be assigned to the 49ers’ group of players that comprise the offense line. He currently is with Purdue University as the offensive analyst. Matute is a 2021 Offense graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota. Before entering in NCAA as a coach, Matute played for Golden West College before moving to Mt. San Antonio College and University of Missouri (2016-20).
McKinney will be assigned to the group that will train with the 49ers tight ends. McKinney became a defensive assistant coach of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 to 2022 season; Before that he worked for Miami Dolphin for three seasons as the defensive quality control coach from 2016 to 2018. McKinney earlier worked as a coaching intern with the Cleveland Browns in two seasons during the seasons of 2014-15. Before joining the NFL as a coach, he was the assistant coach in Bentley University performing the functions of the linebackers and strength and conditioning coach, the special team coordinator and the defensive coordinator from the year 2009 to 2013. McKinney received the bachelor’s degree in business and administration from Towson University and the degree of associate in culinary arts from the Johnson and Wales University acquired in 2004.
Smith is scheduled to collaborate with the 49ers strength and conditioning staff; during the 2022-23 session, he served as the assistant director of football sports performance at the University of Southern California. Before joining the university of the south carolina, smith has worked as an assistant football strength and conditioning coach for the University of Oklahoma during the 2021 season. Smith worked as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at UCONN for two years (2019/2020). Prior to Connecticut, he served as the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the University of Southern Mississippi for the 2018-19 season. During the calendar year of 2017, Smith worked as the intern of football strength and conditioning coach at the Rutgers University. Smith graduated from Kean University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and Southern Mississippi in 2019 with master’s degree in kinesiology.
